‘The Local View’ loves these delicious Stas chocolate eggs.
They’re available in a ‘pop up’ shop in the mall in Tunbridge Wells, or currently at National Trust properties, Knole, Chartwell and Ightham Mote.
Based in Erith, Dartford, Stas are a local business grown out of a passion for good chocolate and over fifty years of experience. Originally importing Belgium chocolates, the Stas family then trained in chocolate schools (Yup, no-one told me about them either…) in France, Belgium and Switzerland. That inspired them in the late ’80’s to start making fresh cream chocolate and truffles. Initially supplying independent chocolate shops and hotels, they started to supply Harrods. Now their range includes Easter Eggs, Christmas figurines and chocolate novelties supplying John Lewis, Waitrose and Harvey Nichols.
We beetled along to their Easter ‘pop up’ shop in the Mall in Tunbridge Wells, you can’t miss it, it’s just near the entrance to M&S food (Royal Victoria Shopping Centre). The children chose their own eggs, it’s a treat to be able to decide your own type of chocolate, ogle the fun designs as well as the more ornate. There are few little tasters on offer too…
If you’re not heading into Tunbridge Wells in the next few days the eggs are also for sale at some beautiful local National Trust properties. Knole House in Sevenoaks, Ightham Mote (near Shipbourne), Chartwell (near Westerham) and the Redhouse in Bexleyheath. Why not combine a sunny day at a National Trust property with your egg purchase?
Groombridge Farm Shop also sell Stas chocolate all year round and Stas have a good website that takes orders. staschocolate.co.uk . All products are made in the Stas factory in Kent and are gluten free.
Do look on the website if you have any other questions re: nuts etc. Peter and Philip are incredibly friendly and clearly take a passion in their business. And the chocolate is absolutely delicious …
